New and seasoned Japanese visual culture fans are invited to join our club! Each month we’ll try out a new series by reading the first volume of the manga before meeting to discuss it and watch the first episode of the corresponding anime (titles subject to change). Stick around afterward for a related activity, which could be anything from a craft to a competition! For June’s club meeting, we’ll be covering Haikyu!! by Haruichi Furudate. “Ever since he saw the legendary player known as “the Little Giant” compete at the national volleyball finals, Shoyo Hinata has been aiming to be the best volleyball player ever! Who says you need to be tall to play volleyball when you can jump higher than anyone else (Goodreads)?” After the discussion, we’ll play some summer festival games! Copies of July’s title, My Adventures with Superman by Tomo Josie Campbell and Pablo M. Collar, will be available for pickup.
